Also, we had a keychain momento created for the class of 1973 Kearns High members. The Orns will clip it to the name badges of the members and will be given to you when you approach the table according to your name alphabetically. Sorry, your partner will not be given one if they were not from the class of '73. We hope this momento will add to your evening and be a reminder of the great time we had at school and our many reunions. 50 years is a special reunion.
Special Invitation!
We would love to know and share your feelings on your KHS experience. Please send us a selfie video(s) addressing questions such as: What was my main takeaway from my high school experience? Why and/or how was the Class of ’73 unique? What did I like about coming to school each day at KHS? What teachers and administrators had the greatest impact on me, and why? Most memorable moment? What did I not care for about school. What do I wish I had done differently? …and anything else related to KHS you’d like to talk about. Try to be brisk and to the point…and most of all, have fun! Remember we can edit out all the pauses and restarts.
Please record in an environment that is less prone to echo (not your bathroom). Assuming most of you will be recording on your phones, try to be as close to the phone as possible, for audio quality sake. Also, check to make sure your lighting highlights you, not your background.
AND…we would love any still photos you might have from our HS days. Just digitize (even if it’s just taking a picture of a picture) and send it on,
Send your video and photos via text to Dean Paynter 801-694-4869. Deadline is June 31st, 2023, so don’t wait. We need you!

We will be singing our school fight song. If you need a lyric refresher:
1st verse (men and women together):
Go mighty Cougars,
On We Go.
Strive mighty Cougars,
In fame we will grow.
We are loyal Cougars,
To Gold Green,
Fight, Kearns High Cougars
To Victory!
2nd verse (men and women together):
Go ye Cougars go.
Mighty Cougars go.
We will rally Cougars,
In fame and honor grow.
Loyal to the Cougars,
To the Gold and Green,
Fight ye Kearns High Cougars,
And march on to victory!
3rd verse (women sing 1st verse normal speed, men sing second verse about half speed to match women)
You may remember that our class gift was a mounted cougar. The shop department created a base and glass case for it, and even attached a box (made by Scott Ollerton) with a plaque labeled "Class Gift of 1973." Over the years the cougar was moved from the trophy area to the main hall and finally in the auditorium. The box with the class gift inscription was separated so no one knows that the gift was from our class. The replacement will be a banner that you will sign on reunion night. The program portion of our reunion will be in the auditorium and you can see the cougar there.
Our years at Kearns High marked many accomplishments. We were known for the 4A chapionships in basketball and football during the 1970-73 era, but did you know that we had more Sterling Scholar Semi-Finalists (7) than any other school in 1973? (Laurie Farnsworth was on a field trip when this photo was taken)
If you are aware of more accomplishments please let Mel Labrum know so they can be listed in this section. melnlabrum@gmail.com
The 1973 Navy ROTC won the state Drill Team Championship. In Summer of 1973 the Marching Band toured Europe where they competed in a band festival in Switzerland, performed for the Mayor of Paris, marched in the Bastille Day Parade, and performed in London and Scotland.
The Kearns High administration has invited our graduating class to celebrate our 50th reunion to attend their homecoming game on Friday September 15 as honored guests. We will be given free entrance to the game and will have our own cheer section. Class and studentbody officers will ride around the track with the current leaders as part of the homecoming activities.
The administration needs to have a list of those who want to be a part of this and they will check you off when you arrive. Please send Mel Labrum your name and partner's name to be on this list: melnlabrum@gmail.com
We will also have a sign up list at the reunion in the cafeteria.
